Sedona Adventure Engagement | Jenn + Nick
I’ve been so excited to share Jenn and Nick’s Sedona engagement session on the blog, and with their wedding in Seattle coming up it feels like the perfect time. From the moment we met for drinks before their engagement session, we hit it off. Jenn is a wedding photographer herself, so we immediately connected over that, and Nick is hysterical and had me laughing the whole time. It was the dream scenario.
Jenn and Nick met after a fall while photographing a wedding landed Jenn in physical therapy. Enter Nick - her new physical therapist. Their story felt like it was straight out of a movie; Nick helped Jenn get back on her feet, and they fell in love along the way. The rest is history. They’ll be tying the knot in Seattle, but since Arizona is home for them now, they wanted to incorporate it into their photos. When Jenn asked if I’d be willing to meet them in Sedona, I agreed with zero hesitation, and pretty soon after was on my way to meet them for drinks before the shoot. Within five minutes of meeting them, they already felt like old friends.
I’d spent the day before the session scouting out locations, but the hike I’d really wanted to take them on was insanely windy at the summit. (The wind literally blew my earrings straight out of my ears.) There was also a wildfire nearby and the smoke was pretty thick and the skies were hazy. Not ideal conditions. But when I brought it up to Jenn and Nick, they were still up for the adventure and were willing to battle the wind to hopefully get the views. We spent some time exploring Bell Rock before heading to Cathedral Rock to catch the sunset. As it turns out, we ended up reaching the end of the hike to a perfectly still sky - no wind. We watched as the sun dipped below the horizon, captured the last light of the day and then scrambled back down the mountain in the dark.
As a photographer, you dream of getting clients like Jenn and Nick. They took every obstacle in stride, helped each other along the way and went with the flow. I loved capturing their silliness and their affection toward each other. We ended that day caked in dirt, tired and giddy off the adventure of it all.
Jenn and Nick - Thank you for the adventure!
